Briana Lynn Banks was born in LaPlata, Maryland; the only child of Raymond and Gypsy Banks. Her family hails from Bluefield, West Virginia. When she announced her intent to take to the stage she got the biggest laugh of her career, to date. She graduated from LaPlata High, after completing Edge, the first and one of only three independent films she ever worked on. As a Maryland Distinguished Scholar, she was awarded the state's drama scholarship. She received a B.A. in Theatre from the University of Maryland, College Park. Since graduation, she's been performing in and around DC at the Cumberland Theatre, Folger Theatre, Kennedy Center, Round House Theatre, Ford's Theatre, Virginia Shakespeare Company, and Olney Theatre Center, among others.
